Thank You to our Supporters

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support and kind words during this tremendously difficult time. We will be taking the next few days to recover from this ordeal and spend some long needed time with our families.

We are currently rehearsing Beethoven #9 for this weekends concerts. Please come out and support the musicians.

In the coming weeks we will be discussing our future outreach programs, and new projects to get the community more involved; to create an awareness of the role that musicians play in Louisville. If you have any ideas to share please take the time to share them with us.

Thank you again for your thoughts and support.

Downgrade the Orchestra!

In a time when the city of Louisville is thinking big, the board of the Louisville Orchestra is thinking small. Recent news of building a downtown arena and the museum plaza downtown, show that Louisville is ready to put itself on the map as yes, the 16th Largest City in the country.

So what are the board and management of the Louisville Orchestra discussing? Cut the size of the orchestra to generate revenue. Its a novel idea but is it what the city of Louisville needs? Will this mean the end of the financial woes for the orchestra?

The Louisville Orchestra became a full-time orchestra in 1981, and here we are in 2006 talking about reverting to 25 years ago!

Let's hear what you think about this big idea. I know this blog has been anything but active, mostly on my part, but it is time for some active discussion on what downgrading the orchestra really means, and what services the LO musicians will be able to provide with their ranks chopped in half!

Meet the Musicians of the Louisville Orchestra

Welcome to the meet the musicians forum. We welcome all conversations and can't wait to answer any questions that you may have. Since this is a public forum, please be respectful and polite, yet feel that you have the freedom to express yourself. We will start with a simple thread but as the conversation grows, we will divide into more specific topics. Thanks for being here!

Hopefully you found your way here via our website, http://www.savethelo.org We will be changing the name of our website to http://www.lomusicians.org in what we hope is the beginning of a change of attitude within the community.

The website and the blog are up and they will stay up. I will be submitting articles and hopefully some diary style stuff of my own as well as from other musicians in the orchestra, so that those interested people out there can see what really goes on in the life of an orchestral musician. Who knows we might even get some juicy stuff in here every once in a while, but you won't know if you don't read!
